Abstract: Frequency selective surfaces (FSS) are periodic structures that generate a bandpass or a bandstop frequency response. They are used to filter or block RF, microwave, or, in fact, any electromagnetic wave frequency. The transposition of phononic crystal approach for the electromagnetic wave will very efficient.Using the phononic crystal approach with Bloch boundaries conditions, our purpose is to simulate a user-specified periodic structure chosen from the built-in unit cell types with electromagnetic waves. Starting with an published model working at C band (4.5 GHz) our purpose is to adapt this model to L band (1 GHz and less). The analysis includes the reflection and transmission spectra, the electric field norm on the top surface of the unit cell, and the dB-scaled electric field norm shown on a vertical cut plane in the unit cell domain.Ther used geometry is about ring shape so called “split ring”.
