Abstract: In this study, the inhibitory action of Paronychia Argentea plant extract on X70 carbon steel was examined in a 1M hydrochloric acid (HCl) solution. The plant material was characterized by infrared spectroscopy, and UV-visible and photochemical screening. Various electrochemical techniques, such as impedance spectroscopy and Tafel method, were used to assess the corrosion behaviour of the steel. The temperature effect on inhibition behaviour was studied in the 298-328 K range and the thermodynamic activation data were estimated. The characterization of the steel surface was carried out using optical microscopy, infrared spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The results obtained showed an inhibition efficiency of more than 80% at an optimal concentration of 560mg/L.
