The objective of this work is the formulation of a hydrophilic matrix based on a biopolymer, chitosan, for its use as a biodegradable implant. The choice of such a matrix was made due to the interest and importance of the research dedicated to it, but especially because of the possibility of using a simple technology for the fabrication of mini-tablets through direct compression, aiming to achieve a sustained release of the active substance. The selected active substance is Sodium Diclofenac, a widely used anti-inflammatory agent in the therapeutic arsenal. The chitosan used was extracted from cuttlefish bones and then characterized physiochemically, yielding a percentage of 50.6%. For the formulation of the chitosan matrix, two methods were employed: the first involved a simple physical mixture between the polymer and the active substance, while the second method involved the entrapment of the active substance within the polymer. Both types of matrices were characterized physiochemically and biopharmaceutically, demonstrating a sustained release of the active substance over 8 hours.fr_FR
