anticancer drugs (chemotherapy, bisphophonates, hormonotherapy, target therapy and
immunotherapy).
This therapies induce various oral side effects especially mucositis, xerostomia, dysgueusia
and osteonecrosis of the jaws (ONJ) whose the severity is variable.
The odontologist plays a primordial role in the managing of these patients and has to insure
preventive approach in order to reduce the risk of complications. A regular follow-up had to be
established during the treatment and after finishing.
The dentist is an integral part of the healthcare team and he has to know perfectly the
management, and the special precautions to take with these patients during the dental care.
