Résumé:
Over the last few years, there has been remarkable progress in the techniques
and methods used to treat and diagnose cancer. These include the medical
cyclotron, which is important in generating radioactive isotopes. This thesis aims
at examining how different parameters such as electric and magnetic fields, and
gas pressure affect the performance of the Penning Ionization Gauge (PIG) ion
source used in PET medical cyclotron. Using CST Studio Suite for simulations,
this study aims to identify the optimal conditions under which the ion source
operates most efficiently.
