In this work, we would return to the complementarity principle describing the relation-
ship connecting b oth twin concepts of pseudo-Hermiticity and weak pseudo-Hermiticity.
Bagchi and Quesne, in their work, suggest "that weak pseudo-Hermiticity is not more
general than pseudo-Hermiticity but works complementary to it". Howe ver the termcom-
plementaritywas nei the r explicitly stated nor its mathematical argumentation was given,
so we think that more general interpretation is yet to b e formulated. We want to ta-
ckle the concept of c omplementarity otherwise in the framework of p osition-dep endent
mass (PDM). We aim in this work to p oint out that the concept of compleme ntarity can
b e understo o d from a rigorous mathematical viewp oint and interpreted as a co ordinate
transformation, implemented by a similarity transformation, leading to connect the twin
concepts of pseudo-Hermiticity and weak pseudo-Hermiticity. To this end we purp ose to
establish, in PDM background, the following results : (i) generate the functions that lead to
identify the complexi ed p otentials V
(+)
(x)(resp.V
( )
(x)) under pseudo-Hermiticity
+
(resp. weak pseudo-Hermiticity
), (ii) show that b oth generating functions are connec-
ted through a co ordinate transformation, hence establishing the mapping (equivalence)with the concept of co mplementarity, and nally (i ii) we intro duce the similarity transfor-
mation that impleme nts the co ordinate transformation in order to connect b oth
